Shaltu (shout it!)

We are proud to present our forthcoming compilation "Shaltu"

Shaltu, an ancient Amerindian word for the helping spirits of dancing shamans, brings us back to our Suntrip roots!
Deep trance & dance music for people that like warm, spiralling, full power melodic “old school” Goa Trance!

Like usual with our compilations it features a mix between known names and newcomers. The opener by veteran RA is pure deep, spiritual, Goa-Trance followed by two emotional morning-monsters filled with spirals and melodies by Crossing Mind and Nebula Meltdown!
They are followed by three in-your-face dancefloor tsunamis that will fit perfectly the climax of every wild party!  Filteria’s remix of Shakta’s classic “Lepton Head” is simply stellar, while newcomers InnerSpace & Ephedra vs Imba show us that there is a new generation of crazy musicians!
The last part of Shaltu brings us back into deep, warm morning music… Music for epic sunrises! The debut of Shani Yantra, and the floating remix of RA’s Time Current by E-Mantra give us a new definition of “Goa trance with modern production”. The Macedonian Sirius ends this compilation with a very melodic masterpiece!

Rarely have we been so satisfied with the result of a compilation and we hope you’ll share that feeling after listening to the samples on the release page!!!

Release scheduled for March 2nd, see you soon!

Happy New Year 2012

Dear Suntrippers,

Welcome to the year 2012! May it fulfill all your dreams.

Here's a summary of our forthcoming releases for 2012.

In a couple of weeks we'll put a new page up for SUNCD24, our new compilation. It's been in the making for months and its artists did an extraordinary job. Even if the Mayans are right and it's the last Suntrip compilation ever, we'll all die happy, we promise :)

Then we have scheduled several albums. Crossing Mind's second opus will arrive in the first half of the year. Then the second half will bring at least one woooonderful album, maybe more woooonderful albums by artists you really apreciate :)

Best Wishes,
The Suntrip Artists, Jos and Fabien

Stamps // 2012

We already stated the Post prices in our country are getting up our noses.

If you read french, you can see how stamps prices can skyrocket by 44% in Belgium in 5 years. Reasons given are:

  • alignment on the increase of the cost of life (one of the poorest reasons ever)
  • modernization of the company's processing (the same company that keeps closing offices, and stopped distribution on saturdays)
  • accelerated decrease of the volume of mail (that's the digital world guys, and if stamps were less expensive in the first place, it would maybe be different)

I could propose: poor management, poor organization and squandering.

Anyway. That bullshit before dropping the news: the stamps prices will increase again in 2012. I mean: WOW, they dare!

Look, a boxed CD is usually 100 grams, a little more with bubbles. So the 350 grams fare applies. According to 2012 prices, that should be 6.54€ to ship one CD in Europe. With a letter? 7€. And 8€ if you live outside Europe.

You read well, you will be supposed to pay 7€ or 8€ to ship one 10€ CD out of Belgium in 2012! Plain stupid.
But with Suntrip it will be 2.79€ or 3.30€, as it used to be in 2011 and 2010.
How ?

  • Since SUNCD18 we are using a new manufacturing process. The plastic is thinner and the paper a little lighter. Weight became 85-90g, so the 100 grams fare applies. 50% off.
  • In 2011 we bought stamps in volume to obtain the 2010 prices. For 2012, we have already bought one entire year worth of stamps with the 2011 fare !!!!
  • We are keeping packaging free.

Side note: since 2004 our prices haven't changed. 10€/SUNCD. Who can claim the same?

Several times, we didn't allow ourselves to rise our base price, whilst physical sales were decreasing and many other spending costs were pressuring us. Actually we cannot do like the Post here, push prices up and bury our heads in the sand, hoping people will swallow. Goatrance is a small scene that has been used to getting music for free for a long time, and we can't afford to lose the few people that actually buy our stuff (you know who you are, be blessed), especially in this depressive period.

Instead, we practiced cost-cutting in a few areas, invested in promotion, multiplied distribution means (digital) and partnerships and of course raised our music quality standards!

What remains to be seen is whether Suntrip is still a viable company. At first sight yes, else I wouldn't be writing here :) This is the subject of a forthcoming blog post here, we do a status once a year. To be honnest, we're not datawarehouse masters but we are currently wokring on a few stats that will show for instance to which extent digital sales compensate the losses on physical sales, or show the sales "profile" of a CD, and see what actions to take to sustain our activity.

At the end of the day, what's important is to keep selecting and releasing the best up-to-date Goatrance for your ears and minds' pleasures :) 23 CDs on the counter. Enjoy!!!

What are we doing now ?

What are we doing now? Well, we are trying to complete a compilation tracklist. Codename: SUNCD24.

We have had litterally thousands of promos since "EnergyWaves" and "Temple of Chaos". Thank you for that. We tried to answer to each and every of you. We are all the more respectful to you as you are increasingly good at making tracks.

So SUNCD24 will feature, as usual, some of our legacy Suntrip Knights, but also a bunch of new guys you've never heard of and yet blew our minds (especially from eastern-Europe).

There's not much we can tell right now because we're still hesitating on a couple of tracks. The style is clearly uptempo Goatrance, very colourful, silicon-trip-esque, dancefloor-adrenalin. Pure ear-pleasure. The release date? February 2012 probably...

The artwork is being done by me with the complicity of Margot Schaffer (or the contrary), as we always do with our V/A's. Expect all the colors of the Sun :)

Well, if you want to ear a showcase, just come to the "Old Is Gold XII" party on December 3rd (start 10pm, 12€, Elewijt city, you know the place).

See you soon for more infos:)

E-Mantra - Pathfinder [11-11-11 Release]

We are excited to release today E-Mantra's latest uptempo album "Pathfinder" (suncd23).

You may find the album at the usual retailers:

The album starts with “Pathfinder” and “Metamorphic Resonance”, two deep entrancing tracks with a straight drive, which slide gently into dancefloor madness, with acidic twirls covered up by sweet enchanting melodies.

In the second part of the album, melodies take the lead to give the tracks a highly hypnotic shape. A trippy remix of the anthem “Dansul Ielelor” is followed by “Valley of the Kings”, a hymn to euphoric eastern melodies, while “Distant Signals” and “Journey to Orion” make you dive into the deep mental side of E-Mantra. The turmoil of madness completes with a relentless acidic remix of Approaching Nibiru!

The album closes on two deep, floating vibrant ambient masterpieces!

If you are wondering how the E-Mantra sound evolved in the last two years, this is your chance! Get ready to be propelled into E-Mantra’s universe!

E-Mantra - Pathfinder : release this week

Some people fear 11.11.11.
Some expect great things instead.
We are in the second category.

E-Mantra's second album, "Pathfinder" is about to be released this friday.

With his hypnotic, acidic, and vibrant style, E-Mantra will make your Goa end of year sweeter :)

You may still spend a couple of days with the extracts on the Pathfinder release page before the album reaches the shelves (and our shop).
