Biography
Joost & Aziz are a cornerstone of the Belgian goa scene, known for their passion for psychedelic trance music. Together they create the perfect balance between yin and yang, light and dark, melody and chaos. Their musical story began in 2008, when they met in high school and bonded over a shared love for heavy music. Back then their lives revolved around the metal scene from death metal and metalcore to hardcore and they spent countless nights at festivals together. Around 2010–2011 their path shifted: still not behind the decks but on the dancefloor, as passionate music lovers and collectors of psychedelic music, being dedicated members of the crowd. What started as a love for digging and sharing tracks naturally grew into DJing, where they found their voice as storytellers through sound. Even today, beyond their role as DJs and organisers, Joost & Aziz remain part of the audience still dancing, still connecting, still celebrating the music that brought them here. Individually they explore different paths: Joost also plays solo and performs under his suomisaundi alter ego Suolakurkku Riki aka Tonto, while Aziz dives into the darker side of psychedelic trance through his project Psyotic. As organisers of Cycles of Life, they’ve helped shape one of Belgium’s most loved psychedelic gatherings. Over the years they’ve played at many unforgettable events and festivals, including Apsara, Old Is Gold, Surya Spirits, Space Safari, Tribal Roots, Organic Dreams, Family of Sound, A Trip Into Goa, Shishu and B2M Festival. More than DJs, Joost & Aziz are part of the community. Their sets are journeys built on friendship, passion, and a lifelong love for music keeping alive the spirit of the Belgian goa scene both on and off the stage. All to pursue one thing: trancend into the deepest state of trance!
